LA QUINTA LIBRE

RÍMAC (TALLER VIII)

La Quinta Libre is a medium density housing project located in the district of Rímac; where there are buildings considered historical heritage. A "quinta" is ahistorical, colonial way of housing that was very common in since the XVIII Century in Lima. The challenge is to generate optimal housing, respecting the feeling of neighborhood and buildings; ensuring the welfare of users and reassessing the heritage.

Some established parameters are:

Relate and respect the facades of historical monuments.
Generate permeability in the apple respecting privacy.
Respect the average density towards the streets.
    Differentiate public from private spaces.

The project is located in the entire block of the district. It generates a previous analysis of how a colonial fifth works; and concepts are applied to the housing complex, such as:

- Work of the historical entrances
- Housing oriented to plazas
- Facades with balconies
- Mixture of privacy and circulation
- Continuous user interaction

The public spaces are worked in detail, defining spaces of stay and safeguarding the privacy of homes. Small spaces of neighborhood scale are created for the interaction of users.

The apple works few free fronts, and only grows more than 4 floors in the interior, where a 7-story building with a more permeable language is located; located above the main square. This square sinks one level and is surrounded by commerce and parking in the basements.

- Historic heritage buildings
- Buildings that preserve the facade
- 7-story building
